TANZANITE MONUMENT RING

$1,895.00

Size 10

Estimated 11–13 Carats

Solid 925 Sterling Silver

Not blue.

Not violet.

A crystal suspended between both.

This ring features a commanding emerald-cut natural tanzanite displaying deep royal blue body color with violet flashes along its step facets.

Tanzanite is the blue-violet variety of zoisite found in only one place on Earth — the Merelani Hills of northern Tanzania near Mount Kilimanjaro. A single mining district approximately seven kilometers long. No secondary deposits.

Discovered in 1967, tanzanite is geologically young in the gem world. Its color is caused by trace vanadium within the crystal lattice, allowing it to interact with light along different crystallographic directions.

That interaction produces pleochroism.

Turn the ring and the stone shifts. Royal blue deepens. Violet emerges along the edges and internal planes. It does not remain static.

The emerald step cut is intentional. Step cuts emphasize depth and body color rather than surface sparkle. They reveal the stone honestly.

Estimated at approximately 11–13 carats based on measurement, with a face-up presence of roughly 16–17 mm in length, this is not a subtle gemstone. It carries architectural scale.

The heavy sterling silver signet setting reinforces the geometry of the cut, framing the crystal in clean, substantial lines. Modern heirloom construction.

GEOLOGICAL CONTEXT

Tanzanite formed during complex metamorphic events within the East African Orogen. Heat, pressure, and chemical interaction transformed calcium aluminum silicate host rock into one of the most geographically restricted fine gemstones on Earth.

Single-source minerals carry inherent supply uncertainty. Large, well-saturated stones over 10 carats are increasingly uncommon in finished jewelry.

This piece represents that rarity in wearable form.
