Step into Morocco’s ancient landscapes with a small group of curious travelers. Spend meaningful time at guided excavation sites, learn how fossils are found and prepared, and enjoy the food, places, and people that make the journey memorable.
Your week in the field
Day 1 · Welcome to Morocco. Airport pickup, time to settle in, a welcome meal, and a briefing on the days ahead.
Day 2 · Meet the landscape. Travel together into fossil country, learn the geological story of the region, and get comfortable with the tools and field approach.
Day 3 · First guided excavation. Search at a permitted site with support from the team, then share and discuss the day’s discoveries over dinner.
Day 4 · A deeper dig. Return to the field with more time to explore, practice careful excavation, and understand what each find can tell us.
Day 5 · Fossils and local culture. Balance field time with a cultural stop, local food, and a chance to see more of the communities around us. Midweek, travel to Ouzoud Falls for time at the cascades and an overnight stay in a beautiful riad overlooking the falls. Another excursion brings the group to Beni Mellal and the Museum of Azilal in the M’Goun UNESCO Global Geopark, with an Atlasaurus skeleton and exhibits on regional fossils, geology, and culture. We also plan time at An Asserdoune in Beni Mellal. If the route allows, we may pause at a Bin El Ouidane viewpoint.
Day 6 · Final field day. Enjoy one more guided search, reflect on your favorite moments, and celebrate the week together.
Day 7 · Farewell. Breakfast, departure arrangements, and airport drop-off.
The order of activities may change with weather, access, and the group’s pace. Your hosts will confirm the final itinerary before departure.
What is included
From airport pickup through airport drop-off, your stay includes accommodations, ground transportation, scheduled excavation and cultural activities, all meals, drinks, coffee, and snacks. Flights are separate.
Fossil finds, purchases & Tucson delivery
You are guaranteed to find fossils during guided excavation at our permitted sites. The type, size, number, and condition of finds will vary. Keeping, exporting, or shipping any find depends on site permissions and applicable Moroccan and destination-country requirements. Packing and shipping of eligible finds are included when those requirements are met.
Complimentary Tucson Gem Show 2028 delivery: We will ship eligible fossil and mineral purchases from this trip to the Tucson Gem Show 2028 for pickup, free of charge. Eligibility and delivery remain subject to applicable export and import rules. Ask us about an item before purchasing if Tucson pickup matters to you.
Booking & payment
Book at $4,700 per guest. Choose payment in full or a 25% deposit ($1,175); the remaining $3,525 is due August 21, 2027, 60 days before the trip. Review the payment schedule and our booking policies before purchase.
